Foreign Minister Serdar Denktas representing the TRNC at the event under the title of ‘Turkish Cypriot State’ with an observer status (28.09.2004)

Foreign Minister Serdar Denktas is in New York to attend the Foreign Ministers’ meeting of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference, which convenes today (28.09.2004)

Mr Serdar Denktas will be representing the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus at the event under the title of ‘Turkish Cypriot State’ with an observer status.

The Foreign Minister is expected to call for the raising TRNC’s observer status to that of a full member’s.

Mr Serdar Denktas will also be holding contacts with his counterparts and other officials, to help convince international leaders to remove the international isolation of the Turkish Cypriot people.

Meanwhile, continuing his bilateral contacts in New York, the TRNC foreign minister met his Turkish and Yemeni counterparts, - Abdullah Gul and Abu Bekir al Qirbi, respectively.

He also met the outgoing Secretary General of the OIC, Abdulahed Belkeziz and the Tunisian Foreign Minister Habib Den Yahia.
